Where unconsolidated formations exist,
one option available is to drive the conductor casing through
the formation versus attempting to drill open hole to accommodate
a “set
and cemented” casing. This can be accomplished by using
heavy wall conductor pipe and a means to drive it into
the ground. OK has two units capable of successfully completing
this task.
Drop Hammer
This truck mounted conventional style 4000 lb. drop hammer
with dual leads is equipped with frame travel and turntable
specifically rigged for driving conductor casings. This unit
is excellent for driving mousehole and rathole casings.
Gigant Air Hammer
This self contained unit is equipped with a compressor,
picker, tractor and trailer capable of carrying it’s
own pipe making it well suited for the completion of difficult
jobs. At up to 180 strokes per minute, energy is directed
in rapid succession enabling the casing to be driven and
effectively cutting it’s own path through gravel formations.
The Gigant Air Hammer can drive pipe horizontally or vertically
making it suitable for slant hole applications. |
